The winners of the Telehealth 2003 Awards include PDSHeart, LLC, Telemedicina de Mexico (Grupo Seesa Telecomunicaciones), Visiting Nurse Association Inc., Health Telematic Network S.p.A., and Catherine Britain of Rodeo Net Consulting.

The awards were presented during the ATSP teleconference, ATSP Telehealth 2003, which took place September 16-18, 2003.

The Telehealth Awards were created by the Association of Telehealth Service Providers (ATSP) to recognize and honor those organizations that are actively working to promote excellence in the telehealth industry. Awards were given in two categories: Vendor Organizations and Healthcare Providers.

Telehealth 2003 Award winners in the Vendor Organization category are:

Telehealth 2003 Award winners in the Healthcare Provider category are:

Visiting Nurse Association, Inc.

VNA Inc. is the largest independent non-profit home health care agency in Michigan located in the Metropolitan Detroit area.

Their TeleHomecare program focuses primarily on the coordination of services, and knowledge/behavior assessment for heart failure population during the immediate post discharge phase (24 hours) and through the continuum of care. VNA equips Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) patients with a weight scale and blood pressure cuff that automatically transmits their vital signs via a telephone line.

CHF costs the US $10 billion annually for diagnosis and treatment. Approximately 30% to 40% of CHF patients with heart failure are readmitted within six months of hospitalization. The TeleHomecare program is dramatically reducing these numbers.ore information can be found at www.vna.org.
